The Legend of Sleepy Hollow Mousecellaneous

Although there is no attraction based around the other section of The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr Toad, the Legend of Sleepy Hollow does still make it's presence felt quite keenly at the parks - principally during Hallowe'en.

I commented in my review of the film that The Legend of Sleepy Hollow is quite scary - it's the closest to out and out horror that Disney have done up to this point, save for the terrifying Night on Bald Mountain sequence of Fantasia.

As such, it's not surprising that the Headless Horseman himself often appears at Hallowe'en parades around the various parks.  Indeed he usually heralds the beginning of the parade, riding along the parade route at the head of the procession.

This is a great choice for the lead of the parade as being such a horrific figure and from such a relatively unknown Disney film it provides interest for Disney fans and unsettles visitors.  I'm quite surprised, actually, that Disney use him in such a prominent position seeing as their Hallowe'en marketing emphasises the 'not so scary' aspect of their celebrations.

Sleepy Hollow also makes its presence felt at Liberty Square in Disney World where there is a small 'quick service' diner.  It serves various sweet and savoury waffles, hot dogs and funnel cakes.

So another relatively obscure film still manages to provide inspiration for elements of the Disney theme parks.
