Saludos Amigos and The Three Caballeros Mousecellaneous
Even with Gran Fiesta Tour and numerous parades and shows, this is not the end of the Three Caballeros in the various Disney parks. They also appear in cameo in a couple of other attractions.
The Mexico section of It's a Small World at Disneyland features the Three Caballeros joining in the eponymous song.
The Mickey Mouse Revue attraction at Tokyo Disneyland features a Three Caballeros section. This is an attraction which used to feature in the American theme parks before being retired. I assume, with the animatronic Caballeros returning to Disney World's Gran Fiesta Tour that they now may not feature in the Tokyo attraction, if it even exists at all.
Models of the Three Caballeros appear as a water feature at the All Star Music Resort's guitar-shaped swimming pool. They also have a presence at the Coronado Springs Resort as topiaries as well as Panchito giving his name to a gift shop Panchito's Gifts and Sundries. Inside the shop you can find Burrito, the flying donkey, lots of pictures of the Three Caballeros. According to a Disney podcast I listen to, this is the only place in the Disney parks where you can purchase a Donald Duck pinata, as seen in the film.
The Three Caballeros themselves have also received a spin-off TV series titled Legend of the Three Caballeros. It follows the Caballeros on a globe-trotting adventure. It is, hopefully, something I'll be able to see when Disney+ is released in the UK.
The whole relationship between Disney and South America is explored in two documentary films: Walt & El Grupo and South of the Border (I may return to these at a later point in this blog).
Tokyo Disney, as I've mentioned, seem to love the Three Caballeros. A harbour show at Tokyo DisneySea called Fashionable Easter has various characters wearing clothing created by fashion designers from the around the park (each representing a different part of the theme park). Jose Carioca and Panchito Pistoles wear clothing in the style of the Lost River Delta's magic realism, whilst Donald (along with Daisy and Stitch) wear a steampunk style inspired by the Mysterious Island area of the park. The Three Caballeros also featured in the Soryo Kobu dance contest show at Tokyo Disneyland in 2012 and 2013.
The title songs, Saludos Amigos and The Three Caballeros both featured as part of the Max Live: Getting Goofy With It show at the Production Courtyard stage at Walt Disney Studios.
Shanghai Disneyland, ever the champion of less well-known Disney characters and films has a restaurant called Mickey & Pals Market Cafe. There are four themed dining rooms within with one, you guessed it, themed around the Three Caballeros.
A former iteration of Mickey's Soundsational Parade featured a Three Caballeros float, presumably with all three characters waving to the crowds, accompanied by the two title songs and also Baia.
At Disneyland Paris, Joe and Panchito have appeared as part of the Hallowe'en themed parade - Goofy's Skeletoons Street Party.
So, for a relatively obscure film, the Three Caballeros have quite a presence across the various parks. I think it may be to do with the striking colours they present - Donald's blues, Joe's green and yellow and Panchito's red and orange. They stand out; they're joyful. I haven't ever met them at the parks, but they are a group I'd love to see out and about and to meet and greet.
